Dean Murray ’87

Dean Murray credits his success as a leader in the insurance field to his time on the USM soccer field. Reflecting on his undergraduate experience, Dean says, “I had no idea how the lessons I learned on the USM soccer field would travel with me over all of these years. As a team captain and a business student, I gained invaluable leadership skills that have helped shape who I am today. I never dreamed that my road from USM would bring me to a career as a global leader in the insurance industry, but here I am.”

Dean graduated in 1987 with a BS in Business Administration and went on to earn his JD from Massachusetts School of Law. Today, he is a vice president with Electric Insurance Company (EIC), serving as Regulatory & Chief Compliance Officer and leader of Inclusion and Diversity for property/casualty insurer. Prior to joining EIC in 2001, Dean held a series of high-level roles at top-tier companies, including   Massachusetts Medical Services, Raytheon, and Stop & Shop Supermarkets. He currently serves on the USM Foundation Board of Directors and on the USM Athletics Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisory Board
